In Australia we might think of sushi as a particular food that you can buy in a variety of small locations, often in department stores, or rarely in boutique restaurants, but as foreigners to japan we aren’t often known for the correct etiquette when we eat sushi.
Many people don’t know that there is actually a “proper” way to eat sushi. Eating sushi comes with its own unique table manners that got lost with the rise in popularity within western culture. However, knowing these rules can give you insight on what you are being served and how to show respect/gratitude to the chef.
